The Trinity Valley Cardinals picked up their first conference win of the season Saturday at the hands of the Blinn Buccaneers, 24-9.
Blinn got a rushing touchdown from freshman quarterback Garry Kimble early in the game and Kurt Walker converted a field goal from about 35 yards out, but two fourth-quarter interceptions and a pair of missed field goal attempts proved costly for the Bucs.
Both teams traded touchdowns early, but Blinn missed the extra point. Trinity Valley led 17-9 heading into the fourth quarter, but the Cardinals picked off two passes in the final period to hold on for the win.
Trinity Valley improved to 3-5 on the season and 1-4 in the Southwest Junior College Football Conference.
Blinn fell to 2-4 on the year and 1-3 in conference.
