Bryan-College Station, TX (June 25, 2013) – On Tuesday night, while celebrating Kaboom’s birthday, the Brazos Valley Bombers earned their eleventh consecutive home victory of the season against the East Texas PumpJacks.
The Bombers collected the lead early in the bottom of the first when Brett Kauten hit a solid single to left that he was able to extend to a double on an error by the left fielder. Kauten earned two RBIs on the hit, bringing in both Horacio Correa III and Patrick McLendon to open up the scoring for the night. Next, Hunter Melton slammed a double to left that brought in Kauten, then Graham McIntyre earned a single up the middle to bring home Melton. After the first inning the Bombers led the PumpJacks 4-0.
East Texas earned their only run of the night in the top of the fourth off of a double and single. The board remained at 4-1 until the bottom of the eighth when Jake Henson hit a single to left to score G.R.Hinsley, who had previously reached the bag on an error. The Bombers sealed their eleventh home victory with the score of 5-1.
Pitcher Brad Vachon earned Player of the Game after throwing seven innings with seven strikeouts. Nick Johnson relieved Vachon in the eighth, earning one strikeout, followed by Shay Maltese, who collected two strikeouts in the ninth.
