Madeleine McDuff of Katy High School has signed a letter-of-intent to attend Sam Houston State University and bowl for Bearkat head coach Brad Hagen’s nationally ranked team.
McDuff is a two-time district and regional individual champion and led her team to both district and regional titles in 2011. In 2012, she placed third at the Texas high school state championships.
A versatile athlete, McDuff is a two-time state champion in track and field for Katy and has won state titles as a road cyclist.
“Madeleine will offer quality depth to what will be still a young but experienced roster next season here at Sam Houston,” Hagen said. “Her local and national exposure to date and her work ethic will play key roles in the future success of this program as well as her own.”
Sam Houston State finished the 2013 season ranked No. 6 in the nation and rolled up a 5-4 record in the NCAA Elite Eight tournament in Canton, Michigan, two weeks ago.
McDuff has excelled in the class room as well with a 3.6 grade point average.
