ARLINGTON, Texas -- Sammy Sosa could be making the final home start of his stay with the Rangers tomorrow when Texas closes
out its home schedule against the Los Angeles Angels.
Manager Ron Washington said he'd like to have Sosa on the team
in 2008, and Sosa would like to return to the Rangers, for whom he
hit his 600th career homer on June 20. But the decision won't be

If Rangers management opts not to re-sign Sosa -- his one-year
contract expires at the end of the season -- he insists he'll be
playing somewhere in the majors next year.
The 38-year-old Sosa has had a strong comeback season for Texas after sitting out 2006. Sosa, who wasn't in the lineup for
tonight's game against the Angels, has hit 20 homers to tie for the
team lead. He's also driven in a team-high 90 runs.
Making those numbers even more impressive is the fact that he's
started only 17 of the Rangers' last 52 games because Texas has
used the last third of the season to evaluate young players.
