Halloween Comes Early For Horns

AUSTIN (AP) - The Texas Longhorns head into October desperate
for a win.
That's because if they lose to Oklahoma in Dallas next week, the
Holiday or Alamo bowls are looking like the best they can do this
year.
Yesterday's 41-21 loss to unranked Kansas State stunned Texas on many levels. It was the Longhorns' worst home loss in 10 seasons
under coach Mack Brown and dropped them from Number 7 to Number 19.
It also sends them into Dallas with a Big 12 loss for the first
time since 1999.
It's not unprecedented to win the Big 12 South with two league
losses, but it would seem unlikely. After setting a Big 12 record
with 21 consecutive conference victories from the middle of 2004 to
late last season, Texas has now lost its last three league games.
