The Texas A&M football team will hit the field Saturday night for their season opener against Stephen F. Austin.

Stephen F. Austin vs. Texas A&M, 6:05 p.m. CDT (Not televised)
Series Record: Texas A&M leads 2-0.
What's at Stake
Texas A&M wants to return to its status among college football's
elite. Before the Aggies can even think about that, they've got to
handle one of the top schools in the division formerly known as
I-AA. Stephen F. Austin won the Southland Conference last season
and is ranked in the top 10 in six of the seven FCS polls this
year. The Aggies want a fast start to move past last year's 6-7
season.
Key Matchup
Texas A&M QB Jerrod Johnson, who was chosen by media members as
the preseason Big 12 offensive player of the year, against Stephen
F. Austin's defense. The Lumberjacks will have their hands full
with the dual-threat who led the Big 12 in total offense last
season with more than 314 yards a game. He threw for 30 touchdowns
and 3,579 yards and ran for 506 yards and eight more scores.
Players to Watch
Stephen F. Austin: QB Jeremy Moses. The senior is Stephen F.
Austin's all-time leader in yards passing (9,403), total offense
(9,265) and touchdown passes (87). If he throws for even half of
the 4,124 yards and 40 touchdowns he finished with last season
he'll end his career as the Southland Conference career leader in
yards passing and touchdown passes.
Texas A&M: Johnson. The Texas A&M coaching staff thinks Johnson
has improved from a year ago, but they aren't looking for him to
outdo his stats from 2009. They are hoping he'll make better
decisions in high-pressure situations this season and that it will
lead to more wins in close games. He'll have to do it behind a
young offensive line that features freshman left tackle Luke
Joeckel.
