TULSA, Okla. – Texas A&M’s Conor Pollock and Chris Chirico advanced to the round of 32 in the qualifying doubles draw of the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championship held Tuesday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Pollock (San Antonio, Texas) and Chirico (Philadelphia, Pa.) defeated the No. 45 nationally-ranked doubles team of Danny Dossetor and James Eason of the Citadel, 8-3, in the opening round of 64. The Aggie duo will take on Kentucky’s Marcus Sundh and Will Ward in the round of 32 tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, seniors Matt Bain (Georgetown, Texas) and Jerry Makowski (Bradenton, Fla.) fell in first-round action to the No. 51-ranked doubles team of Arnau Brugues and Ricardo Soriano of host Tulsa, 8-5. Makowski and Pollock will compete in the singles main draw beginning on Thursday. Both Aggies are currently ranked No. 34 and No. 37 respectively in the preseason ITA/FILA Collegiate Tennis Rankings.
