COLLEGE STATION, Texas- Texas A&M sophomore defender Nicole Ketchum was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. It was Ketchum’s first conference player of the week honor.

Ketchum was responsible for netting both of the Aggies’ gamewinners over the weekend on the road against Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. Ketchum’s first goal came off a low ball from Pistorius towards the far post sealing the 2-1 victory over the No. 20 Cowgirls. Against the Sooners on Sunday Ketchum headed home a free kick in the first half for the 1-0 shutout.

The four goals scored this season is a personal-best for the Cypress, Texas-native, as Ketchum logged three goals during her freshman campaign.

The 5th-ranked Aggies will play host to the 4th-ranked Texas Longhorns in Friday’s State Farm Lone Star Showdown. The match is slated for 7:30 p.m. at the Aggie Soccer Stadium.
