The Normangee football team ended Chilton's long district winning streak by playing keep away Friday night at Panther Field.

The Cats chalked up the 40-to-6 win as Jordan Mullinnix carved out 214 yards rushing.

Normangee opened the scoring on a three-and-a-half yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

After a Pirate fumble, Team Green made it 14-to-0 as Jordan Mullinnix spun his way into the end zone from two yards out.

In the second quarter, Jordan Mullinnix showed off his defensive skills, picking off the Xavier Shaw pass and returning it 40 yards for the touchdown.

Chilton drove to Normangee's door step in the waning seconds of the second quarter, but Jordan Mullinnix tipped away a potential t.d. pass and to preserve the home team's 21-to-0 lead at the break.

Chelsea Hotzen was crowned Normangee homecoming queen at the intermission.

The Panthers finished off a complete effort in the second half, prompting head coach Brian Mullinnix to remark, " I was really pleased with our effort, Chilton had won 35 district games in a row, and to beat them is a task in itself. I was really proud of our kids and I think we had an all-around good, solid game."

Chilton falls to 2-&-4, 2-&-1 in District 25-a.

The Pirates host Wortham next Friday.

The fourth-ranked Panthers are now 6-&-0, 3-&-0 in league play.

They will visit Iola to renew the Highway 39 Throwdown Friday.
