WINDERMERE, Fla. -- The No. 15-ranked Texas A&M men's golf team will compete in the Isleworth-UCF Collegiate Invitational Sunday through Tuesday at Isleworth Golf & Country Club.
The 18-team field will play three rounds on the 7,493-yard, par-72 layout that serves as the home course of several PGA Tour standouts, including Tiger Woods.
In addition to A&M, the rugged field includes Arizona, Arizona State, host
Central Florida, Clemson, East Tennessee State, No. 7 Florida State, No. 5
Georgia, No. 4 Georgia Tech, Illinois, Kentucky, No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 8
South Carolina, No. 6 Southern Cal, SMU, No. 9 Stanford, Texas and No. 14
Wake Forest.
Representing the Aggies will be senior Bobby Gates, freshmen Ignacio Elvira,
senior Trey Todd, freshman Conrad Shindler and sophomore Austin Schauer.
"Isleworth is one of the top college tournaments in the country -- it is
like attending a PGA Tour event," A&M Coach J.T. Higgins said. "We will have
to play a lot better than we did in Oklahoma if we want to compete. The
course is outstanding and the field of teams is even better. We have
been pressing so hard this fall and if we can just relax, enjoy the
process and not focus so hard on the results, I think we will be fine."
