A&M’s McGee Named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week

IRVING -- Texas A&M quarterback Stephen McGee was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Aggies to their first road win over Nebraska in 52 years, the conference announced on Monday.

McGee, a junior from Burnet, Texas, paced the Big 12’s top rushing attack to 359 yards by picking up 167 yards on 35 carries -- both career highs -- in the Aggies’ 36-14 win over the Cornhuskers. McGee’s 35 carries were easily a school record for a quarterback, eclipsing David Walker’s 27 carries against SMU in 1977.

The Aggies’ 359 rushing yards against the Cornhuskers were the most road rushing yards by A&M since 1996 -- the first year of the Big 12 -- when the Aggies rushed for 369 against Baylor in Waco.

Joining McGee as weekly honorees were Missouri’s Pig Brown (Defensive Player of the Week) and Kansas’ Scott Webb (Special Teams).
