NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) -- Former Oklahoma quarterback Rhett Bomar passed for 251 yards and ran for two touchdowns to lead Sam Houston State past Stephen F. Austin 45-17 Saturday.
Bomar's touchdowns came on a pair of 10-yard runs in the second quarter and helped the Bearkats (4-4, 2-2 Southland) build a 28-3 halftime lead. Bomar was kicked off the team at Oklahoma last year after violating NCAA rules by accepting payments for work he didn't perform at a car dealership.
Bomar led Sam Houston with 67 rushing yards, and running back Chris Poullard had three touchdowns on 62 yards. Poullard scored Sam Houston's first two touchdowns, and his 10-yard TD early in the third quarter put the Bearkats ahead 35-3.
Louie Runnels had 129 rushing yards and a touchdown for the winless Lumberjacks (0-8, 0-4).
Bomar completed 15 of 20 passes, a team-high four of those to Poullard for 37 yards.
Sam Houston had two interceptions, including one that was returned 56 yards for a touchdown by Carlton Cobey.
