A-Rod Opts Out

By  |

NEW YORK - Alex Rodriguez is opting out of his 10-year, 252
million-dollar contract. That probably ends his career with the New
York Yankees, who have said they would not try to re-sign A-Rod if
he opted out of his current deal.
Agent Scott Boras says it was A-Rod's decision to opt out.
Rodriguez probably will be this year's Most Valuable Player in the
American League.
Boras says A-Rod was concerned about whether pitchers Mariano
Rivera and Andy Pettitte and catcher Jorge Posada would return to
the Yanks in the wake of Joe Torre's decision not to return to the
Yanks after 12 years as their manager.
