Navasota -- The Caldwell Hornets knocked off Navasota Friday night 44 - 29 at Rattler Stadium. The win improved the Hornets' district record to 3 and 1. The Rattlers fall to 2 and 2.
Navasota got on the board first when Gaston Lamascus hit Kyle Hilldreth with a 28 yard touchdown. Caldwell got touchdown runs from Farrin Sims and Xavier Canto to grab a 14 - 7lead after the first quarter.
The Hornets extended the lead to 21 - 7 on a Sims one yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Lamascus threw his second touchdown pass of the game to Antron Harris to cut the Caldwell lead to 21 - 13. The Hornets answered that with a Canto 15 yard touchdown run to take a 27 - 13 lead to the half.
Caldwell opened the scoring in the third quarter when Canto raced in from 15 yards out. Dexter Pratt and Jacolby Stokes scored the next two touchdown for Navasota. A pair of two point conversions following each score cut the Hornet lead to eight points. Caldwell would cap off the scoring with a Canto seven yard touchdown run.
Caldwell will close out the regular season November 9th at home against Bellville. Navasota will be on the road to take on La Grange.
