COLLEGE STATION - The Texas A&M women’s basketball team tied its highest-ever preseason national ranking in school history with a spot at No. 11 in the preseason Associated Press Top 25 Poll released on Saturday.
The Aggies were also picked a school-best No. 11 in the preseason USA TODAY/ESPN Coaches Top 25 Poll released on Oct. 31. A&M made its third all-time appearance in the preseason AP Poll next to being selected No. 14 prior to the start of the 2006-07 season and No. 23 prior to the 1994-95 season. It marks the program’s second-highest national ranking as A&M was ranked No. 10 in both national polls during the regular season on Nov. 27, 2006.
The nationally-ranked Aggies open the regular season on the road at SMU on Friday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. in Dallas. Two days later, they will turnaround and take on the U.S. Women’s National Team headlined by WNBA stars Lisa Leslie, Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird and Swin Cash in their final exhibition tune-up of the season on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets by calling The 12th Man Foundation Ticket Center at: (979) 845-2311 or 1-888-99-AGGIE.
