COLLEGE STATION -- For the third time in as many seasons the 2nd-ranked Texas A&M soccer team will head to the Big 12 Soccer Championship as the No. 1 seed and will face the No. 8-seed Iowa State Cyclones on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Blossom Soccer Complex in San Antonio.

“We are really looking forward to the Big 12 Championship,” A&M head coach G Guerrieri said. “Our players love this event. We’ve always been treated well and have truly enjoyed our visits to San Antonio. This is one of the great annual college soccer events in America and we’re proud to again be entering the tournament as the No. 1-seeded team.”

The Big 12 will provide a live video stream of the 2007 Big 12 Soccer Championship quarterfinals and semifinals at www.big12sports.com. The championship match will be telecast tape-delayed by FSN. Check local listings for FSN broadcast times in your area.

The Aggies were able to secure their spot as the No. 1 seed with a 5-0 victory at home over Texas Tech on Oct. 28. The shutout also clinched A&M’s fourth consecutive Big 12 regular season title and 10th league trophy in just 12 seasons.

In addition to the six regular season titles, the Aggies have won four Big 12 Championship tournament trophies (1997, 2001, 2004 and 2005). A&M has made 12 straight trips to the NCAA Tournament, eight “Sweet 16” showings and three “Elite 8” appearances in the program’s 14 full seasons.

MAC Hermann Trophy candidate Ashlee Pistorius currently leads the nation in both goals scored (23) and points per game (2.74). She was recently named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week after notching her sixth career hat-trick with four goals scored against Baylor.

A&M head coach G Guerrieri has amassed an overall record of 253-71-13 and holds a commanding 94-13-5 mark in Big 12 competition. All 10 of the Aggies Big 12 regular season and tournament titles have come under Guerrieri’s direction, including A&M’s current 19 home-game unbeaten streak.
