COLLEGE STATION -- Texas A&M women’s basketball player Tyra White (Kansas City, Mo.) will undergo surgery in December to heal a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee.

The six-foot freshman guard suffered her season-ending injury in four minutes of play in A&M’s season opener at SMU on Nov. 9 in Dallas. One of the nation’s most-heralded recruits out of Kansas City’s Hickman Mills High School, White was rated as the No. 17 overall prospect in the class of 2007 by HoopGurlz.com. A McDonald’s High School All-American and Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior, she was rated the fourth-best shooting guard in the country by the All-Star Girls Basketball Report.
