Bryan Viking Gymnastics Win Against Round Rock High School

The Bryan Viking Gymnastics team competed against Round Rock High School on Friday at Bryan High School. The Vikes won the compulsory competition with a 173.6 to Round Rock's 166.6. Bryan ultimately won five out of six events as a team.

Alex Reyes won the heated All-Around Competition by beating teammates Isaac Rodriguez and Matthew Kelly. Isaac and Matthew tied for second place in the All-Around, just a tenth of a point behind Reyes. Enoch Rodriguez finished in fourth place, and Stefan Quartemont rounded things out with a sixth place finish.

Individually, Isaac Rodriguez walked away with three blue ribbons by winning the Rings, Vault and Parallel Bars. Matthew Kelly scored a perfect 10.0 and was awarded first place on Horizontal Bar. Alex Reyes won the Pommel Horse event.

Bryan competed a total of eleven boys today with five, Chris Braaton, Travis Shaw, Jesse Martinez, Grayson Tedrick and Michael Gonzalez, receiving honorable mentions. For Martinez, Tedrick, and Gonzalez, it was their first time to compete at home as members of the varsity team.

Bryan's next competition will be Dec. 14th in the upstairs gym of BHS.
