HUNTSVILLE, TX - Led by Reggie Rawlins, four Bearkats scored in double figures to lead Sam Houston State to an 88-40 non-conference men's basketball victory over Saint Gregory's University of Shawnee, OK, Tuesday night at Johnson Coliseum.
Rawlins totaled 15 points, going six of seven from the floor and adding two free throws. Ryan Bright scored 14 points, Shamir McDaniel 12, and James Barrett 11.
The victory ran Sam Houston State's home non-conference winning streak to 39 games. The streak is the third longest in NCAA Division I men's basketball behind Duke (53) and Utah State (46). The Bearkats have not lost at home since 1998.
Sam Houston (3-0) never trailed, jumping out to a 12-0 lead in the first
four minutes of the game. The Bearkats led at halftime 40-16 and outscored the Cavaliers 48-24 in the second period.
Derek Washington led Saint Gregory's (2-3) with nine points. The Bearkats limited the Cavaliers to 29.1 per cent shooting from the floor (16 of 55) and out-rebounded the visitors 45-31. Bright led Sam Houston with nine boards.

Following the Saint Gregory's match-up Tuesday, Sam Houston will return to action Saturday, Nov. 24, when they host Fresno State at Johnson Coliseum at 7 p.m.
