FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - Tom Brady threw for 399 yards and four touchdowns as the New England Patriots crushed the Pittsburgh
The Patriots become the fifth team to go 13-and-0, joining the
1934 Chicago Bears, 1972 Miami Dolphins, 1998 Denver Broncos and
2005 Indianapolis Colts.
New England can become the first team since the '72 Dolphins to
finish a regular season undefeated. The Patriots' next three games
are against the Jets, Dolphins and Giants.
Earlier this week, Steelers safety Anthony Smith guaranteed a
Pittsburgh victory. But Brady made sure Smith would have to eat his
words, throwing a pair of touchdowns to Randy Moss and one each to
Jabar Gaffney and Wes Welker.
Brady needs four TD passes to match Peyton Manning's record of
49 set in 2004. He moved ahead of Dan Marino's 44 in 1986 into
third place. Marino holds the second spot with 48.
Willie Parker rushed for 121 yards for the 9-and-4 Steelers.
Their lone touchdown came on Ben Roethlisberger's
(RAWTH'-lihs-bur-ghurz) 32-yard pass to Najeh Davenport.
