Williams Loses Appeal Over 1-Game Suspension

NEW YORK -- Dallas Cowboys safety Roy Williams today has lost his appeal of a one-game suspension over his third illegal "horse collar" tackle of the season.

Williams was suspended without pay for one game after his
takedown of Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb on Sunday as
the Eagles beat Dallas 10-6.

Williams then appealed.

But NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has denied the appeal, noting
the "horse collar" tackling technique is barred because it's an
unacceptable risk to player safety.

Williams will miss Saturday night's game at Carolina, and it's
costing him $35,000.
