Six Aggies Earn Soccer Buzz All-Region Accolades

COLLEGE STATION, Texas- Six Texas A&M soccer players received Soccer Buzz All-Central Region honors, editors of the magazine announced this week.

Seniors Amy Berend and Ashlee Pistorius, along with sophomore Nicole Ketchum were named to the first team. Sophomores Amber Gnatzig and Kristin Arnold earned spots on the second team. Rounding out the awards for the Aggies was Rachel Shipley who was listed as a member of the All-Freshmen Central Region team.

Pistorius who was also named the Soccer Buzz Central Region Player of the Year is making her fourth consecutive appearance on the first team. Pistorius scored a personal-best 25 goals this season on her way to breaking the Big 12 and A&M career record for goals (81) and points (194).

Berend is receiving her third Soccer Buzz award after posting three goals and three assists in her senior campaign.

Gnatzig and Arnold are making their second appearance on the all-region teams. Gnatzig posted four goals and four assists in her second season at A&M. Arnold logged 91 saves as she registered a 0.86 goals against average.

Ketchum and Shipley are making their first appearance on the Soccer Buzz All-Region teams. In her second season for the Aggies, Ketchum scored a career-best five goals while Shipley chipped in six assists, scoring two goals in her freshman stint.

All Soccer Buzz Awards were voted on by NCAA Division I Coaches and Soccer Buzz Staff. All 314 schools sponsoring women's soccer in 2007 were eligible for national and regional awards, presented annually since 1996.
