Eagls Soar Over Spartans In Champs Bowl

ORLANDO, FL - Matt Ryan is a winner in his final college
football game. Ryan passed for 249 yards and three touchdowns as 14th-ranked Boston College held on for a 24-21 win over Michigan State at the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando. Ryan hit Rich Gunnell for a 68-yard TD that put the Eagles ahead 24-14 with 9:31 remaining.

Gunnell had six receptions for 138 yards and three touchdowns as
the Eagles finished the year 11-3, their first 11-win season since
1940.

BC All-America safety Jamie Silva had two interceptions and was
the game's MVP.

The Eagles iced the victory with their fourth interception of
the game. Paul Anderson returned it to the Spartans 29 with 2:29
remaining before BC ran out the clock.

Michigan State QB Brian Hoyer was just 14-of-36 for 131 yards,
two touchdowns and five turnovers, including a fumble.
