NEW YORK -- Minnesota's Adrian Peterson has won the Associated Press NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. He ran away with the voting, outdistancing Cleveland offensive tackle Joe Thomas.

Peterson was able to only play in 14 games because of injury but
despite that disadvantage he finished with an NFC tops 1,341 yards
rushing. His 78 points on 13 touchdowns were second in the
conference.

Against San Diego, Peterson rushed for a single-game NFL record
296 yards. In a game against Chicago, Peterson was able to rush for
224 yards.

He received a whopping 46 and a-quarter votes while Thomas got 3
and a quarter votes. They were the only players to receive votes
from the media panel.
