TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Eli Manning engineered four scoring drives
and the New York Giants shut down Tampa Bay's offense in a 24-14
win over the Buccaneers.
Brandon Jacobs scored a pair of second-quarter touchdowns after
Earnest Graham scored on a one-yard run to put the Bucs ahead 7-0
late in the opening period. Jacobs tied the game with a five-yard
touchdown reception before scoring on an eight-yard run that put
the Giants ahead to stay with about 4 minutes left in the first
The Giants added a third-quarter field goal after Michael
Spurlock fumbled on the second-half kickoff. Manning added a
four-yard touchdown pass to Amani Toomer to make it 24-7 with 8:03
Manning was 20-of-207 for 185 yards and no interceptions to help
the Giants win a playoff game for the first time since 2000.
The Giants handled Jeff Garcia while holding the Bucs to 271
total yards. Garcia passed for 207 yards and one touchdown but was
picked off twice.
