MIAMI -- Kansas defensive coordinator Bill Young is leaving
the Jayhawks.
The Associated Press has learned that Young is taking the
defensive coordinator's job with the Miami Hurricanes.
Young succeed Tim Walton, who was fired by coach Randy Shannon after the Hurricanes allowed more than 300 points this season. Shannon was promoted from defensive coordinator to head coach after the 2006 season.
Young was a finalist in 2007 for the Broyles Award that goes to
the nation's top assistant coach. The Jayhawks beat Virginia Tech
in the Orange Bowl in their first Bowl Championship Series game to
finish 12-1.
Miami finished 5-7 and missed a bowl game for the first time
since 1997.
