HOUSTON (AP) - Third baseman Ty Wigginton has avoided
arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, 4.35 million-dollar contract
with the Houston Astros.
Wigginton made just over 2.75 million last year, splitting time
with Tampa Bay and the Astros.
The 30-year-old Wigginton hit a combined .278 with 22 home runs
and 67 RBI's with Houston and Tampa Bay in 2007. In 50 games with
the Astros, he batted .284 with six homers, 18 RBIs and 12 doubles.
