HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) - Former Nebraska head coach Bill Callahan
has been hired as assistant head coach/offense by the New York
Jets.
It's a return to the NFL for the 51-year-old Callahan, who
coached the Oakland Raiders to the 2002 AFC championship game
before losing to Tampa Bay in the Super Bowl.
Callahan had a 27-and-22 record in four seasons at Nebraska. He
was fired after a 5-and-7 season by former Cornhuskers coach Tom
Osborne, who returned to the school as interim athletic director.
Callahan will work primarily with the Jets' offensive line.
