Kansas Adds To Football Staff

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- The Kansas Jayhawks have hired Rice assistant coach David Beaty to coach wide receivers.
Beaty replaces Tim Beck, who was hired by Nebraska earlier this
month.
Kansas head coach Mark Mangino says Beaty is an excellent
technician who focuses on making his players better.
Beaty coached wide receivers at Rice the last two years when the
Owls changed from a running game to a passing game. Last season,
Rice was 15th in passing offense, averaging 293 yards a game.
He's a 1994 graduate of Lindenwood College in St. Charles,
Missouri, where he played football and was a team captain in 1992
and 1993.
