HUNTSVILLE -- Shamir McDaniel's 18 points helped Sam Houston State outlast Texas-Arlington 73-57.
McDaniel led four players in double figures for the Bearkats
(16-3, 4-2 Southland). Ryan Bright scored 14 points and was the
game-high rebounder with 17. Reggie Rawlins scored 16 points and
Jeremy Thomas added 11 for Sam Houston.
Texas-Arlington (14-5, 4-3) were led by Anthony Vereen's 22
points. He was the only player in double figures for the Mavericks.
Texas-Arlington was without starting forward Larry Posey, who
made the trip but did not play because of an undisclosed illness.
The Mavericks hit only two of 15 3-pointers, while the Bearkats
were 8-of-26 from behind the arc.
The loss snapped a four-game win streak for the Mavericks.
