ARLINGTON - Sam Houston State remained winless in Southland Conference action with a 97-53 loss to the Lady Mavericks.

The Bearkats had two players in double figures scoring with Brittany Brooks leading the way with 17 points. Whittney Smith added 11. For the basketball game, the Kats shot 28.8 percent from the field, hitting 17-of-59 from the floor.

The biggest difference in the game however was on the inside. The Bearkats were outrebounded 64-28. The Lady Mavs also pulled down 28 offensive rebounds to just eight for the Kats.

WIth the loss, the Bearkats fall to 0-6 in Southland Conference play and 1-18 overall.

The will remain on the road, taking on Texas State-Sam Marcos on Saturday. That game will get started at 2 p.m. as part of a double header with the men.

The Kats will return home on Feb. 7 when they host Texas-San Antonio.
