DALLAS -- Rajon Rondo delivered a tiebreaking reverse layup
with 42 seconds left as the Boston Celtics beat the Mavericks 96-90
Rondo followed one of his season-high 12 rebounds with a putback
that snapped a 90-90 tie. He finished with 14 points as the Celtics
improved to a league-leading 36-and-8.
Paul Pierce and Ray Allen each had 26 points for the Celts, who
played their third straight game without Kevin Garnett because of a
strained abdominal muscle.
Dirk Nowitzki hit a pair of free throws to knot the score with
58 seconds left. Nowitzki had 31 points and 11 rebounds for the
Mavericks, who are a game behind New Orleans for the Southwest
