BRENHAM -- Blinn College has self-reported a football recruiting violation, athletic director David Rehr announced today.
The rule violation involved the football signing date dead period, which was from midnight Feb. 3 until midnight Feb. 7 this year.
An assistant coach made a visit to a South Texas high school 14 hours before the dead period ended.
Rehr reported the incident to the National Junior College Athletic Association immediately upon discovery of the visit Thursday. The college is awaiting the NJCAA's ruling. The penalty could be that the college will not be allowed to sign a recruit from that school for a period of one year.
"Steps are being taken to avoid this happening again," Rehr said.
