Celts Spank Spurs

BOSTON (AP) - Boston improves to 5-and-2 without injured star
Kevin Garnett in the lineup by beating visiting San Antonio 98-90.
The Celtics picked up the slack by getting 35 points from Paul
Pierce, 19 from Ray Allen and 12 assists and 11 rebounds from Rajon
Rondo.
Tim Duncan had 22 points, 14 rebounds and six assists, and Manu
Ginobili (MAH'-noo jih-NOH'-blee) scored 21 for the Spurs, who lost
for the first time in five games.
The Celtics better get used to playing without Garnett. Coach
Doc Rivers said before the game that he isn't expecting his big man
back before next weekend's All-Star break.
Even without Garnett, the Celtics will take the NBA's best
record into the All-Star break. Rivers says no decision had been
made on Garnett's availability for the midseason exhibition, but he
doesn't expect Garnett to play on Tuesday or Wednesday and the
All-Star game seems unlikely as well.
