and the New Jersey Nets went on a 21-0 run in a 101-82 rout of
The 21 straight points came during a 36-6 run that turned a
36-25 deficit into a 61-42 lead. The run began after Carter was
nearly knocked out by an elbow to the face. Carter scored 25 points
after returning to the game midway through the second period.
Richard Jefferson had 19 points for the Nets, who won for only
the second time in their last 16 games. Jason Kidd added 13 points
and 14 assists to New Jersey's second consecutive win.
Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks with 21 points but missed 12 of
his 16 shots. Nowitzki had just 10 points after the first quarter.
