PARRISH, Fla. – The No. 25-ranked Texas A&M women’s golf team will defend its title at the Central District Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at River Wilderness Golf Club.

The Aggies won last year’s tournament by 13 strokes as Ashley Knoll captured individual honors.

The 15-team field will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. In addition to A&M, participating teams are Baylor, Indiana, Kansas State, No. 14 Kent State, Michigan, No. 23 Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, SMU and Texas.

Representing A&M will be sophomores Danielle McVeigh and Ashley Freeman, junior Lauren Johnson, freshman Sarah Zwartynski and senior Miranda Orr.

A&M opened its spring season last week with a 10th-place finish at the Northrup Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif.

“We are very excited going into this next event,” A&M Coach Trelle McCombs said. “We feel like we really learned a lot from this past week and we are ready to defend our title."
