PARRISH, FL -- The No. 25-ranked Texas A&M women’s golf team closed with the best round of the day, a 10-over-par 298, on Tuesday to finish second at the Central District Invitational at River Wilderness Golf Club.
A&M (902) was 10 strokes behind No. 23 Michigan State, which claimed the title with a 54-hole score of (892). No. 14 Kent State was third at 912, followed by Ohio State (913), Texas (914), Missouri (917), Indiana (921), Michigan (926), Nebraska (926), No. 19 Notre Dame (929), SMU (935), Oklahoma (935), Northwestern (939), Baylor (956) and Kansas State (963).
Michigan State’s Sara Brown captured individual honors by seven shots with a four-under total of 70-70-72=212.
A&M’s Ashley Freeman (73-76-73=222) placed fifth, Lauren Johnson (74-74-76=224) tied for seventh, Sarah Zwartynski (78-77-74=229) tied for 18th, Miranda Orr (84-75-75=234) tied for 34th, and Danielle McVeigh (77-WD-82=159) placed 74th.
The Aggies play host to the Texas A&M “Mo”morial March 7-9 at Traditions Golf Club in Bryan.
