WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- Outfielder Jason Tyner has signed a minor league deal with Cleveland that includes an invitation to spring training.
The 30-year-old Tyner batted .286 with one homer and 22 RBIs in
114 games last season with Minnesota. Tyner's homer was his first
in 1,356 major league at-bats, and, coincidentally enough, it was
surrendered by Indians right-hander Jake Westbrook.
Tyner gives the Indians some outfield depth in case of injuries
or should the club decide to make a trade this spring.
He also has played for the New York Mets and Tampa Bay.
