The Hearne Eagles got over a big hump Tuesday night, beating the Hallettsville Brahmas, 77-to-68, at Brenham's Blinn College.
Hallettsville pulled within a point of the Eagles in the second half, but could never take the lead.
The Eagles pulled away with some clutch buckets and a few free throws late in the fourth quarter.
Forrest Rucker controlled the boards and poured in 26 points for Hearne, while three-point bomber Anthony Gonzales went off for 24.
Pierre Flemings fired in 12 points and Justin Evans tallied 11 for the Eagles.
The Brahmas finish their campaign at 25-&-9.
Hearne is 22-&-8 and bound for the Class 2A Region IV semifinals.
