Kentucky Hires Chris Thurmond As Defensive Backs Coach

LEXINGTON, KY -- Kentucky has hired Chris Thurmond to coach
the team's defensive backs. Thurmond replaces Thom Kaumeyer, who spent only a few weeks with the Wildcats before taking the same position with the Jacksonville
Jaguars.

Thurmond comes to the Wildcats from the University of Houston,
where he spent the last two years as cornerbacks coach and
recruiting coordinator. Thurmond was the Cougars' interim coach
during the 2007 Texas Bowl, where Houston lost to TCU 20-13.

Thurmond coached the cornerbacks at Texas A&M for three years
prior to joining the Cougars. Other coaching stops during his
career include Tulsa, East Carolina, Oklahoma and TCU.
