LAS VEGAS, NV -- The Texas A&M men’s golf team will compete at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship Friday through Sunday at Southern Highlands Golf Club.
In addition to A&M, the 15-team field includes Air Force, Arizona, Arizona State, No. 4-ranked Charlotte, No. 10 Florida, No. 2 Georgia, No. 7 Georgia Tech, Hawaii, Minnesota, No. 5 Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M, No. 3 UCLA, UNLV and No. 6 USC.
A&M will be represented by junior Bronson Burgoon, senior Bobby Gates, sophomore Austin Schauer, junior Matt Van Zandt and freshman Ignacio Elvira.
The Aggies opened the spring season with a runner-up finish at the Burns Intercollegiate on Feb. 22 in Hawaii setting a school record with a score of 33-under-par. Burgoon tied a 22-year-old school record with a 13-under-par total, including a final round 65.
“We are looking forward to building on our last outing in Hawaii,” A&M Coach J.T. Higgins said. “The guys are full of confidence. This field is really strong and we are eager to show what we can do against the best of the best. Southern Highlands is always set up difficult with ultra fast greens and tough pins. Patience, good course management and mental toughness will determine our success on this course.”
