Texas A&M Earns No. 4 Seed at Upcoming Big 12 Championship

IRVING -- Texas A&M earned the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship, while Kansas State won the 2008 Big 12 women’s basketball regular-season championship outright, its second crown since 2004. It marked A&M's third-straight year to earn a top seed and first-round bye at the postseason tournament.

The Wildcats finished the conference season with a 13-3 mark and are 21-8 overall heading into the postseason conference tournament on March 11-13 & 15 in Kansas City. The Aggies will play the winner of game 2 between fifth-seeded Oklahoma and 12th-seeded Missouri in second-round action on Wednesday, March 12 at 2:30 p.m.

K-State enters the postseason tournament as the No. 1 seed, while Baylor earned the No. 2 seed. Oklahoma State claimed the No. 3 seed. The top four seeds receive first-round byes and begin action in the second round.

The remaining seeds are: No. 5 Oklahoma, No. 6 Nebraska, No. 7 Texas, No. 8 Iowa State, No. 9 Colorado, No. 10 Texas Tech, No. 11 Kansas and No. 12 Missouri.

First round action gets underway Tuesday, March 11, at noon. All games will be played in Kansas City’s historic Municipal Auditorium, site of five previous Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championships.
