CLEARWATER, FL – Morgan Mikulin hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning to provide the only scoring for the Sam Houston State softball team in a 9-2 loss to Fairfield Sunday morning.
The loss, which dropped the Bearkats’ season record to 10-10, ended play for Sam Houston in the University of South Florida Invitational. Sam Houston lost all five games in the event.
Fairfield jumped out quickly with three runs in the top of the first inning. Fairfield ended the game with 10 hits.
Sam Houston totaled eight hits with Hailey Wiginton going 2-for-4 and Casie Everitt 2-for-3.
The Bearkats’ next action on their Florida trip are games with Central Florida and Maine in Orlando, FL, on Tuesday.
