SAN ANTONIO -- Texas A&M senior Joseph Jones will participate in the DiGiorno College All-Star Game on Friday at 5 p.m. at the Alamodome.
The game pits two teams comprised of many of this season’s top senior players. For the first time, it will be free to the public and will be played on the Final Four court. Doors open at noon for team practice and pre-game festivities begin at 4 p.m.
A 6-9 forward/center, Jones recently completed a stellar career at A&M, starting in 131 games and leading the Aggies to a school-record 95 victories in four seasons. Jones helped the Aggies to four straight postseason appearances, including three straight NCAA Tournaments. He is only the second player in A&M history to score more than 1,600 points with more than 800 rebounds in a career, ranking third in scoring (1,679) and sixth in rebounds (843). He is the only four-time team captain in school history.
Jones will play for the National All-Stars, which will be coached by Clemson’s Oliver Purnell. Other members of the team are Kentucky’s Ramal Bradley, Vanderbilt’s Shan Foster, Xavier’s Josh Duncan, Virginia’s Sean Singletary, Nebraska’s Aleks Maric, Georgetown’s Jonathan Wallace, Clemson’s Cliff Hammonds, Duke’s DeMarcus Nelson, Rhode Island’s Will Daniels and Rider’s Jason Thompson.
The American All-Stars will be coached by South Carolina’s Dave Odom and includes Ohio State’s Jamar Butler, Butler’s Mike Green, Georgia’s Sundiata Gaines, Utah State’s Jaycee Carroll, Houston’s Robert McKiver, UCSB’s Alex Harris, Mississippi State’s Charles Rhodes, Illinois’ Brian Randle, Maryland’s James Gist, Washington State’s Robbie Cowgill, Wisconsin’s Brian Butch and Louisville’s David Padgett.
The NCAA Final Four begins with the semifinals on Saturday and the championship game on Monday.
