COLUMBIA, MO -- The Texas A&M women’s tennis team continues its three-match road swing as the Aggies take on the Missouri Tigers Friday in Columbia. Match time has been changed to 2 p.m. at the Green Tennis Center.
The Aggies, ranked No. 31, are 10-6 overall and 4-1 in Big 12 Conference play after suffering their first league loss Wednesday at Baylor. A&M, tied with Colorado for third in the conference standings, won the doubles point against the Lady Bears but fell in five of six singles matches in the 5-2 loss.
Missouri is 9-8 overall and in 10th place in the Big 12 with a 1-4 mark. The Tigers’ only victory was a 4-3 home win against Kansas on March 16.
A&M’s Elze Potgieter is ranked No. 75 in the nation in singles. The doubles team of Anna Blagodarova and Tiffany Clifford is coming off an 8-5 upset over the No. 2-ranked team in the country, Baylor’s Lenka Broosova and Zuzana Zemenova.
Morgan Frank, who picked up the Aggies’ only singles point against the Lady Bears, is 5-0 in Big 12 singles matches and is riding a six-match winning streak. In doubles, she and partner Stephanie Davidson are 12-2, including 5-0 in Big 12 matches only.
A&M has won the last five meetings against Missouri to improve to 13-1 all-time against the Tigers. Missouri’s only win against A&M was in 2003 in Columbia.
A&M concludes its three-match road swing Sunday at Colorado.
