Kinne On The Move Again

By  |

AUSTIN (AP) - Backup quarterback G.J. Kinne is transferring from Texas.
The former Canton High School standout says he wants more
playing time.
He hasn't picked a new school.
Kinne originally gave an oral commitment to Baylor, where his
father, Gary Joe Kinne, was hired as an assistant one season after
he was shot in the stomach in the Canton field house.
A parent, Jeff Doyal Robertson, was convicted of the shooting
and sentenced to the maximum 20 years in prison.
The younger Kinne eventually switched his pledge to Texas.
G.J. Kinne took his redshirt season in 2007 but was still near
the back of a logjam at quarterback behind Colt McCoy.
Gary Joe Kinne spent two seasons at Baylor. He's now a head high
school coach in Fresno, California.
