NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Chris Paul, David West and Tyson Chandler had
big games as the New Orleans Hornets opened their playoff schedule
with a 104-92 comeback over Dallas.
Paul dropped in 35 points, registered 10 assists and led a
third-quarter rally in his first career postseason game. West added
23 points in his first playoff game since his rookie season. And
Chandler delivered 10 points and 15 rebounds to the win.
The Mavericks carried a 12-point lead into the second half
before Paul poured in 15 points in the third quarter. Paul helped
New Orleans outscore the Mavericks 36-20 in the period to take a
Dirk Nowitzki paced the Mavericks with 31 points but was held to
just four in the final period. Josh Howard added 17 points and
eight rebounds but shot just 4-for-16.
The Hornets host Game 2 Tuesday.
