NEW ORLEANS -- Chris Paul poured in 32 points and the New Orleans Hornets grabbed a 2-0 lead in their first-round series by blowing out the Dallas Mavericks 127-103.
Paul also had a franchise playoff-record 17 assists for the
Hornets, who continued to pull away after carrying a 10-point lead
into the second quarter.
Paul, David West and Peja Stojakovic combined for 81 points, with West finishing with 27 and Stojakovic adding 22. Stojakovic also shot 5-for-7 from three-point range while the Hornets were 10-for-18 beyond the arc.
Dirk Nowitzki had 27 points for the Mavericks, who don't host
Game 3 until Friday. Brandon Bass added 19 points, but Mavs guard
Jason Kidd finished with only seven points and eight assists while
Dwight Howard contributed only 10 points.
