PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The Detroit Pistons are in the Eastern Conference semifinals after Richard Hamilton outscored the 76ers in the first quarter of a 100-77 rout at Philadelphia in Game 6.
Hamilton got off to a great start in the clincher, hitting his first five shots and scoring 13 of his 24 points in the opening period. He helped the Pistons carry a 30-12 margin into the second quarter before the Detroit completed its third straight win.
Chauncey Billups added 20 points for the Pistons, who were ahead
by 28 heading into the final period. Billups shot 8-for-11 while Hamilton finished 9-for-14, two reasons why the Pistons were 58% from the field.
Andre Iguodala scored a team-high 16 points for the Sixers despite taking only seven shots. Andre Miller missed 12 of his 16 shots while scoring 11 points.
The Pistons will host the Orlando Magic in the first two games
of the next round.
