TULSA, Okla. (AP) - University of Texas quarterback G.J. Kinne
has signed scholarship papers to start his move to the University
Kinne is a redshirt freshman and will have three years of
eligibility after sitting out the coming season.
Tulsa coach Todd Graham calls Kinne a big-play guy with a strong
arm but says he can also scramble and make plays on the run. Graham
compares Kinne to Paul Smith, who set records as Tulsa's
quarterback before graduating last year.
Kinne was a two-time Class 3-A offensive player of the year in
Texas. He was fourth on the Longhorns' depth chart behind Colt
McCoy, John Chiles and Sherrod Harris.
Kinne's father is a high school coach who was a teammate of
Tulsa coach Todd Graham and Golden Hurricane assistant Brent Graham
was once a defensive coordinator on the father's staff.
